Dundee woman’s Romania trip to help stray dogs

A Dundee woman has committed herself to helping stray dogs — in Romania.

Gail Mcaulay, 45, who manages White’s Bar on Provost Road, has left her own pet dogs in order to travel to the European country and help their strays.

Her Lhasa Apsos, Tilly, 3, and Alfie, 2, are being looked after by family at home in Ballumbie while Gail, her chef boyfriend Alex Rice, 37, and her nurse daughter Samantha Glennie, 26, visit shelters across Romania providing food and medical treatment to abandoned dogs.

Before she left on Saturday, Gail explained: “Over a year ago my daughter came across stuff about stray dogs in Romania and I couldn’t believe it. There are people who hunt the dogs and beat them.
